Each Saturday of the 2019 college football season we’ll update important betting news and results from across America. From upsets, to big bets and the always popular bad beats, this article is all you need to recap the day.

Ohio State dominates Michigan in Ann Arbor

After giving up an early touchdown to start the 2019 version of The Game, Ohio State established its dominance over Michigan in Ann Arbor on Saturday. The Buckeyes simply could not be stopped on offense, doubling up the Wolverines and coasting to a 56-27 win.

Ohio State closed as an 8.5-point road favorite, although some books were offering the Buckeyes at -9.5 before kickoff. Saturday’s total flew OVER the closing number of 53 after getting steamed by the betting market throughout the morning. The OVER has now cashed in seven straight games between these two programs.

OVER bettors rejoice in Alabama-Auburn instant classic

The full-game total of 51 went OVER in the first half of the 2019 Iron Bowl, one of the most memorable games of the 2019 college football season. Auburn – a 3.5-point home underdog against visiting Alabama – survived a late missed field goal and held on to win 48-45, ending the Crimson Tide’s College Football Playoff hopes in the process.

Stanford spread backers burned by bad beat

Bettors who took +17 with Stanford were left fuming when a late fumble-six allowed Notre Dame backers to miraculously cash their tickets. The Cardinal was covering for most of the game, battling back and forth with the Fighting Irish throughout the first half and heading into the break trailing 21-17.

Notre Dame took command after halftime and extended its lead before Stanford snuck through the backdoor by scoring a TD with 1:54 left in the game to make it 38-24. All Stanford backers needed from the Irish was one first down to run out the clock, but instead they punted it back to the Cardinal, who then proceeded to fumble the ball in the end zone with 40 seconds remaining. Notre Dame’s Khalid Kareem jumped on the pigskin, leaving Stanford backers stunned with a 45-24 final score.

Northwestern upsets Illinois

Northwestern beat Illinois 29-10 in Champaign on Saturday, earning its third win of the 2019 season and covering as 6-point underdogs. The Fighting Illini were favored to win by more than a touchdown throughout the week, but the spread shortened during Saturday morning trading, with some books offering a closing line of 5.5.

Illinois has now lost two straight games after earning bowl eligibility following a surprising 37-34 upset victory over Michigan State. The Wildcats could be found at +200 on the moneyline before kickoff.

Clemson takes care of business, covers massive spread

Clemson continued its College Football Playoff tune-up on Saturday with a 38-3 victory over South Carolina at Williams-Brice Stadium. The Tigers closed as 27-point road favorites and dominated from the start, taking a 24-3 lead into halftime. It was all one-way traffic in the second half, and Clemson held the Gamecocks to 174 yards of total offense.

The Tigers set up a date with Virginia next Saturday in the ACC championship game.
