Coming off a weekend in which they handily beat both the Bucks and Clippers, the Lakers have reclaimed favorite status on the NBA oddsboard at the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas.
For context, the Lakers had already been priced as the championship favorites at many sportsbooks, but ahead of their Friday night home game against Milwaukee, they were listed at +275 odds at the Westgate, tied with Clippers as the second betting choice and behind the +225 Bucks.
After convincing wins by near identical scores over the league’s other top contenders, though, LeBron James and Co. have seen their odds dip below the 2/1 threshold, the SuperBook now dealing 9/5 (+180) for the franchise to win its first title since 2010.
The Lakers (-1.5) beat the Bucks 113-103 on Friday and were 2.5-point underdogs in a 112-103 win over the Clippers on Sunday. Those wins avenged losses earlier this season to each of those teams. In fact, the Lakers have lost twice to their Staples Center co-tenants, surely a reason Kawhi Leonard’s crew was rated higher by some oddsmakers.
The Lakers also put a nose in front of the Clippers on the Western Conference futures board, the former listed at +170 at the Westgate, the latter +175. Here are odds to win the NBA title, per a Monday morning tweet form Jeff Sherman at the Westgate.
