With the NHL and NHLPA agreeing to a format to complete the 2019-20 season, updated futures odds were posted at the Westgate SuperBook over the weekend, along with betting lines for the eight play-in series.

While several details still need to be worked out and there’s no date for when the puck will drop, the league and players union decided to scrap the rest of the regular season and move forward with a 24-team playoff. That’s good news for the Blackhawks, who are in the tournament as the 12th and last seed in the Western Conference.

At 100/1 odds to win the 2020 Stanley Cup, Chicago is tied with the Canadiens as the longest shot on the board. The ‘Hawks, though, were 300/1 at the Westgate the week of March 9, when the season was postponed amid the spread of the Coronavirus, as their chances of making a 16-team postseason field appeared dim.

Under the approved 24-team format, the top four seeds in each conference get byes. The remaining 16 teams are matched up in best-of-five play-in series, the Blackhawks listed as +130 underdogs against the No. 5 seed Oilers (-150).

Among the aspects of the tournament yet to be decided – along with sites and dates – is whether the teams will be reseeded after the play-in round. If the Blackhawks prevail over Edmonton and there is no reseeding, they’d face the No. 4 Stars in a best-of-seven series in the next round. If the teams are reseeded, Chicago would take on the defending champion Blues, who enter the playoffs as the top seed in the West.

At the top of the oddsboard, there are four teams priced in the single digits to lift the Cup – the Bruins, Golden Knights and Lightning share favorite status at 6/1 odds, with Avalanche next at 8/1.

Here are futures odds and series prices offered at the Westgate.
